Dual Language Learners

Research shows that a dual language early education can lead to complete proficiency in both languages. But there are other benefits as well for our young learners like:

• Improved Attention - In learning to be bilingual, children must learn how to actively switch their brains from one language to another based on the environment that they’re in

• Improved Reading Skills

• Better Problem Solving - Bilingual children are more adept at solving certain kinds of mental puzzles. Bilingual experience improves the brain’s command center, thus giving it the ability to plan, solve problems and perform other mentally demanding tasks.

• Embracing Cultural Awareness and Diversity - Learning a new language is about far more than just acquiring new vocabulary; it gives students a better understanding of a new culture.

• Higher Empathy

Do not fear that learning two languages will confuse or distract your child. Remember, their brains are flexible, and the skills develop beyond learning a second language is immeasurable. We often ask ourselves this question "Why learning a second language is so hard as you get older"? For a child, learning a language is part of their brain chemistry, they do this in an unconscious state of mind, they’re learning and they don’t even know it. Adults, on the other hand, have to consciously learn the information which makes it harder because when we learn that way, information sometimes gets lost or disassociated.

Lastly do not fear that learning two languages will confuse or distract your child. Remember, their brains are flexible, and the skills develop beyond learning a second language are immeasurable.
